Borneo Rainforest is one of the most beautiful biodiverse rainforests in the world. Located on the third largest island in the world, Borneo Island, this beautiful rainforest is shared by three countries which are Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei!
Ageing to be around 140 million years old, Borneo Rainforest is one of the oldest rainforests on Earth. This old rainforests is home to 15,000 plant species, over 600 bird species, and more than 220 species of mammals! Among these species, Borneo is one of the last strongholds of both the Bornean orangutan and Sumatran orangutan.

HELLO THERE!
My name is Virginia Louise McHale and I am currently pursuing my Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology. I chose this topic for my Introduction to Tropical Ecology blog as I grew up most of my life surrounded by Borneo's beautiful forests as well as my interests in wildlife and flora since I was a child. This blog has given me a reason to dig deep into researching more about the tropical rainforests surrounding the Borneo Island and I hope to be able to share my findings with whoever this blog finds itself to.
Enjoy!
